It's a full-on confrontation with fear, disappointment, and negativity --countered with the sheer force of the will to live, even through uncertainty, pain and difficulty. It's about transformation, mirrored by the fresh mixtures of opposites like punk & country to ♯avantgarde & ♯baroquepop . I expected this 6th Mitski album to be stellar, but every track has gone beyond my dim expectations. There's a mysterious wonder to this album, I get the sense I'll joyfully return to the LP again and again all year, and still perhaps not fully appreciate all the nuances!
