I grew up in Gothenburg which was where the Swedish indie pop centrifuged from during the 90s and early 2000. Most of the stuff released sounded the same but we didn't care as long as we could get past the bouncers at the semi-illegal clubs gigs. If I had to pick one band which represents that era its Honey is Cool. The singer Karin Dreijer later formed ground breaking The Knife with her brother Olof, and the drummer Håkan Hellström (who also at that time played bass in the indie pop band Broder Daniel) later became one of the biggest Swedish solo pop artist who still fills arenas. After them came El Perro Del Mar, Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Tough Alliance, Josè Gonzales, Jens Lekman, Anna von Hausswolff, Makthaverskan, Air France... and...well... Crazy Frog. Sorry about that one.
