saw this and Piano Concerto No. 2 live today along with Andrea Basevi's Four Poems by Emily Dickinson, which featured an amazing children's chorus. Denis Kozhukhin's playing was awesome and the composition by Basevi completely blew me away. I had only ever listened to Prokofiev before going, so hearing the program open with the Basevi composition and then reading in the program notes that it was the composition's world premiere made me feel super fortunate to have seen it live and in the same building as the composer and the chorus director, Ellie Lin. It was that performance in particular that felt genuinely unbelievable at times. Hopefully it gets recorded soon. William Walton's First Symphony was the third and last composition to be played. It was also really good, but by that point in the program I was kinda beat so I didn't get to appreciate it as much. Listening to some of his other work rn and sure enough it's dope
